Coaches and manager needed for new GB Team

Tue 10 Jan 2017

The GB Softball programme is planning to launch a new national team in 2017 – a GB Under-16 Boys’ Fastpitch Team -- and a Team Manager and additional coaches are needed.

Plans to create a GB Under-16 Boys’ Team and programme have been in the works for much of this year, led by GB Men’s Team Manager and Great Britain Fastpitch League organiser Lee Grafton, but have been given added impetus by the fact that the European Softball Federation will hold its first-ever European Championship for Under-16 Boys in the summer of 2017.

The new team will deepen the GB male fastpitch programme, with young players who aspire to play for the GB Men’s Team getting high-level coaching and European competition experience at an earlier age.  The GB Men’s Fastpitch Team is currently ranked fifth in Europe and tenth in the world, while the GB Under-19 Men’s Fastpitch Team is ranked fifth in Europe.

Additional coaches with fastpitch playing and/or coaching experience are needed to support Lee Grafton in making the new Under-16 Boys programme a reality, and the team will need a Manager to organise the trip to the European Championship next summer.

Anyone interested in coaching or managing this new team, or who wants more information, should contact BSF National Teams Officer Jana McCaskill (jana.mccaskill@britishsoftball.org) and/or BSUK Fastpitch Development Officer Johanna Malisani (johanna.malisani@bsuk.com).

The team will be coached by Johanna Malisani, Joss Thompson and Moe Flett.
