Sefton Softball League looks to a competitive season in 2017

Tue 9 May 2017

After a busy winter programme of recruitment and training sessions 2017 looks like being the most competitive season yet in the North West’s Sefton Softball League.

An influx of 10 new players means all five teams now have an even number of male and female players, so the league has amended its regulations to remove the allowance for teams to play six men and four women in a team.

In addition, the high quality of the new players means that all five teams look capable of beating each other and so the league title should be wide open this season.

The league will also have a new venue in 2017 that will allow the possibility of expansion.  Games will now be played at Holy Family High School in Thornton, L23 4UL, starting at 7.00 pm on Monday evenings.

As in previous years, the season opener on 8 May was preceded by a one-day round-robin friendly tournament on Bank Holiday Monday 1 May.
