Monday 2 October – The GB Slowpitch Team staff has today announced the 16 players – eight women and eight men – who have been selected for the team that will compete in the historic first-ever WBSC Co-ed Slowpitch World Cup for national teams, to be played in Guadalajara, Mexico from 5-10 December 2023.

A genuine World Championship event for co-ed slowpitch national teams is something that the BSF and GB Slowpitch have been hoping and working for over many years, and it’s been a long time coming.  The  fact that the tournament would take place in 2023 was announced late last year, and the dates and location for the event were finally confirmed this year at the end of June.

The GB Team qualified for a place by winning the 2022 European Co-ed Slowpitch Championship, along with silver medallists Germany and bronze medallists The Netherlands, though the Dutch team has declined their place.  The Asian qualifiers were decided at a tournament held this summer.

The GB Team is due to arrive in Guadalajara on 3 December and will be able to train on the competition field the next day.

The World Cup itself will begin on Tuesday 5 December and medal games will be played on Sunday 10 December, though the tournament format has yet to be announced.
